I'll post an "official after" picture too...I won't be done with my journey...just the first leg of it, but it will be interesting to see what I can accomplish during four weeks of life at fat camp. Wish me luck!
I am researching "fat camps" at the moment and am considering the one you're at. I wanted to go to Fitness Ridge (Biggest Loser one) but the next opening isn't until November...uh HELLO I'm fat NOW and it's March :) I noticed you do tons of cardio and only one slot of weight lifting--is there more opportunity for weights? Are there also any classes/sessions where they talk about food issues and management like binging, emotional eating, etc?
Also, what other places did you consider going to aside from this one?
Hey Tracy...Let me see if I can answer your questions. First and foremost, it's important to know that you will be in control of your program here (just like you're in control of your life at home). If you want the trainers at Real Life to make more decisions for you (like I do...I sort of wish they'd put me on a toddler's leash) they will. If you want to rent a car and bail out of the gym and go to KFC they're not going to lock the door. Jillian Michaels isn't here lurking behind a treadmill with a cattle prod waiting for you to "need a sip of water." I think the philosophy is that we've all paid a lot of money to come here and change our lives...and we should all be motivated to work to do just that. As far as weights vs. cardio...it comes down to cardio burns more calories...thus more rapidly shrinking my mucho grande ass...and you get PLENTY of organized time for weight training...but if you want more...bring it on! :)
There is a counselor here. She's fabulous. She does group sessions once a week...works on all the things you mentioned. As far as I know, everyone gets one private session during their stay to work on whatever they want with her. You can also purchase more private sessions if you want.
I researched everywhere...all the big names...of course the Biggest Loser (same thing with the wait list...but now I'm glad)...Pritikin...Green Mountain...Hilton Head...a bunch of others in and out of the U.S...it came down to none of them having the combination of medical supervision (which I've made good use of) and other perks for the price. I feel like I made the best choice for me. I feel my body changing...AND my head. :)
